Historical Overview

1371 AD: Chaotianmen ("Gate Facing the Emperor") was established as a ceremonial entrance to the city during the Ming Dynasty, symbolizing loyalty to the imperial court.

1891: Opened as China’s first inland treaty port, attracting foreign merchants and steamship companies.

1927: The original city walls were demolished to expand the port, marking Chongqing’s transition into a modern industrial hub.

1997: Chongqing became a municipality; Chaotianmen was revitalized as a cultural and commercial center.

2019: Raffles City Chongqing opened, featuring the "Horizontal Skyscraper"—a 300m-long bridge linking eight towers.
