Silver Cave

Silver Cave

Silver Cave, nestled in Lipu County, Guilin, is a renowned karst masterpiece dubbed "World's Wonder of Karst Caves." Formed 300 million years ago, the cave spans 2 kilometers across 12 peaks, featuring layered chambers with stalactites, stalagmites, and columns that shimmer like silver under lights. Designated a national AAAA-rated scenic spot, it showcases geological wonders like "Three Wonders" (Music Stone Screen, Snow Mountain Waterfall, Fairyland Pool) and "Three Treasures" (Sky-Pillar Column, Buddha's Sermon, Pearl Umbrella). Opened in 1999, it merges natural splendor with cultural legends, including tales of hidden Qing Dynasty treasures.

Historical Overview

While the cave's geological history dates to the Cambrian period, its modern development began in 1999. Legend claims a rebel general from the Revolt of the Three Feudatories hid treasures here, inspiring the folk rhyme: "Open Silver Cave, Feed Guangxi and Hunan." In 2024, the cave hosted its first "God of Wealth Cultural Festival," blending traditional rituals with modern performances, enhancing its cultural appeal.

Structural Layout

The cave follows a three-tiered layered structure:

  • Upper Tier: Small-scale chambers near the mountain summit (350m elevation).
  • Middle Tier: Main exploration zone (262m elevation), featuring 967m of pathways with core attractions.
  • Lower Tier: Underground river system (145m elevation), a 6km-long waterway for boat tours.

Key sections include the entrance hall, main chamber, and subterranean river area, forming a "dual land-water" route.

Major Attractions

Snow Mountain Waterfall: A 20m-high stalactite cluster with quartz particles, gleaming like a silver cascade.

Music Stone Screen: A 3.5m-tall stone screen that emits melodious tones when tapped, dubbed "Heavenly Sound."

Fairyland Pool: Mirror-like waters reflecting stalactites, creating a symmetrical, dreamlike scene.

Sky-Pillar Column: A 26m-tall column bridging cave ceiling and floor, with branching formations midway.

Buddha's Sermon: Stalagmite clusters resembling monks listening to a central "Buddha" statue.

Pearl Umbrella: A rare umbrella-shaped stalactite, a geological mystery with mythical lore.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
