Longmen Aquarium

Longmen Aquarium

Luoyang Longmen Ocean Park, established in 2005, is a cutting-edge marine theme park located in Luoyang, Henan Province. Spanning 10,000 square meters, it combines education, entertainment, and conservation, showcasing over 300 species of marine and freshwater life. The park’s innovative exhibits include a 360-degree sky-ring aquarium, dual-layer cylindrical tanks, and a tropical rainforest zone. Renowned for its dynamic performances—such as sea lion acrobatics and “Mermaid” underwater ballets—it offers visitors immersive encounters with ocean life. Designated a national marine science education base, the park bridges fun and learning, appealing to families, students, and marine enthusiasts alike.

Historical Overview
Opened in October 2005, Luoyang Longmen Ocean Park was developed by Beijing Yihua Seascape Technology as a regional hub for marine education and tourism. In 2022, it earned recognition as a national-level science popularization base, expanding its role in public education. Key milestones include the 2018 addition of a transgenic zebrafish exhibit—the first of its kind in China—and the 2020 debut of a “Spider-Man” underwater treasure-hunt show. The park continuously updates its offerings, blending technology with ecology to promote ocean conservation.

Structural Layout
The park is divided into nine thematic zones:

  1. Two-Reptile Zone: Showcases snakes, turtles, and rare amphibians.
  2. Rainforest Area: Simulates a tropical ecosystem with waterfalls, exotic birds, and free-roaming fish.
  3. Wetland Ecology: Features freshwater habitats for sturgeon, paddlefish, and migratory birds.
  4. Interactive Touch Pool: Allows close contact with starfish, sea cucumbers, and small sharks.
  5. Coral Reef Zone: Displays vibrant coral species and reef-dwelling fish.
  6. Deep-Sea Tunnel: A 50-meter acrylic walkway surrounded by sharks, rays, and giant groupers.
  7. Sea Lion Arena: Hosts daily performances and training sessions.
  8. Ocean Theater: Stages “Mermaid” shows and underwater magic acts.
  9. 360° Sky Aquarium: A 12-meter-diameter cylindrical tank offering aerial views of swimming schools.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
