In the early morning, you will depart from Chengdu by bus towards Songpan Ancient Town, which takes approximately 3 hours. Songpan Ancient Town (also known as Songzhou Ancient Town) is an important military fortress in the northwest of Sichuan, with a long history and rich cultural heritage. The ancient town is divided into inner and outer towns, with city gates connecting the two. The city walls are entirely built with blue bricks, making them strong and imposing, and they serve a significant defensive function from ancient times.

Songpan Ancient Town is home to various ethnic groups, including Tibetan, Qiang, Hui, and Han people, who have influenced and integrated with each other, forming unique and vibrant cultural customs. In the town squares, you can hear joyful Tibetan songs and witness energetic Guozhuang dances, experiencing a strong ethnic atmosphere.

You can also stroll along the streets, tasting local specialties such as spicy noodles, sauerkraut noodles, and barley cakes, and enjoy the charm of this multi-ethnic town.

After visiting Songpan Ancient Town, you will continue your journey to Chuanzhu Temple, a small town that takes about 1 hour to reach. Located at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, Chuan Zhu Si is known for its clean and peaceful environment, with distinctive Tibetan village architecture and omnipresent prayer flags. The town retains traditional Tibetan customs and marriage and funeral ceremonies. From the temple gate, you can enjoy views of distant snow-capped mountains. You can visit the local temples and Tibetan villages, and experience the daily life of Tibetan people. After dinner, check in at a local hotel for rest.

Today will be your full-day tour in Jiuzhaigou. Known for its rich ecological environment and colorful lakes, Jiuzhaigou is a world-famous scenic area. The main attractions in the park are divided into three valleys: Shuzheng Valley, Rize Valley, and Zechawa Valley.

In the morning, you will start with Shuzheng Valley, which is the first valley of Jiuzhaigou. It is famous for attractions like Shuzheng Waterfall, Shuzheng Lakes, and Wuhua Lake. Especially Wuhua Lake, where the surface of the water, due to minerals and plant diversity, displays dazzling colors. It is a photographer’s paradise.

Next, you will head to Rize Valley, the largest of the three valleys. The most representative attractions here are Pearl Shoal Waterfall, Chang Hai Lake, and Mirror Lake. Mirror Lake is calm and reflects the surrounding snow-capped mountains, forests, and lakes, creating a beautiful scene like a painting. The landscape of Rize Valley is constantly changing, with every spot offering amazing views.

In the afternoon, you will visit Zechawa Valley, the most primitive and unique of the three valleys. This area is full of Tibetan culture and natural beauty. The most famous attraction here is Nuorilang Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Jiuzhaigou, with powerful water flow and mist, creating a magnificent scene.

Within Jiuzhaigou, you will use an eco-friendly bus to travel between the major attractions, saving energy and time. The entire tour will last about 6 hours, and you will have the chance to fully experience Jiuzhaigou's unique natural beauty and rich ecological diversity.

In the evening, you can enjoy a meal at a Tibetan-style restaurant in Jiuzhaigou, tasting Tibetan hotpot, yak meat, and other local delicacies for an authentic Tibetan dining experience.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return. Q & A

Asked by Hodgson from Peru | July 30,2025 13:43
Sichuan opera face-changing
How long is the performance, and what else is in the show besides face-changing? Also, is it suitable for kids?
Answered by intotravelchina | July 30,2025 13:59
Shows are about 1–1.5 hours, with face-changing (bianlian) as the star—performers switch masks in seconds, telling stories through colors (red for loyalty, white for treachery). There’s also singing, acrobatics, and fire-breathing—kids love the drama and visuals! It’s family-friendly and a highlight for all ages. Just ask your guide to book tickets—they’ll pick a good show with English explanations.
Asked by Zona George from Paraguay | July 30,2025 13:18
Qingcheng Mountain
Are there any temples or monasteries we can enter there, and will we get to learn about Taoist practices, like meditation or philosophy, during the visit?
Answered by intotravelchina | July 30,2025 14:02
Yes! Qingcheng Mountain is dotted with ancient Taoist temples, including the famous Tianshi Cave (where Zhang Ling, the founder of Taoism, is said to have meditated). You can enter these temples to see statues, incense offerings, and traditional architecture. The guide will share insights into Taoist principles like "harmony with nature"—and if you’re lucky, you might even spot monks practicing tai chi or reciting scriptures, adding to the serene, spiritual atmosphere.

Jinli Old Street
are the folk performances scheduled, or do they happen randomly? I don’t want to miss the shadow puppetry or Sichuan opera bits?
Answered by intotravelchina | July 30,2025 14:00
Performances are scheduled! Shadow puppetry usually starts around 7–8 PM, and Sichuan opera excerpts around 8–9 PM. Your guide will know the exact times and take you to the best viewing spots, so you won’t miss a thing. Grab a snack, find a seat, and enjoy the show!
Asked by Emmie from Swaziland | July 30,2025 11:34
I’ve heard pandas sleep a lot.
what time do they usually eat, and can we time our visit to see them feeding?
Answered by intotravelchina | July 30,2025 14:03
Pandas feed mostly in the morning (around 8–10 AM) and late afternoon, so our morning visit aligns perfectly with their active hours! You’ll likely see them munching on bamboo (they eat 12–38 kg a day!) or playing. The base also has informational boards (in English) and sometimes short talks by staff about panda conservation—your guide can point these out, so you’ll learn all about their care and the base’s work to protect them.
Asked by Gissing from Rwanda | July 30,2025 11:16
Is Dujiangyan Irrigation Project just a historical site, or does it still help with irrigation?
Answered by intotravelchina | July 30,2025 14:02
Dujiangyan is remarkable because it’s not just a relic—it’s still fully functional! Its ancient design uses the natural flow of the Min River to divert water for farming, preventing floods and nourishing the Chengdu Plain. Farmers here still rely on it, making it a living example of sustainable engineering. You’ll see how its three key components (Yuzui, Feishayan, and Baopingkou) work together—truly a wonder of ancient wisdom.
