Tianzifang–-Sinan Road-–Sinan Mansions-–Yuyuan Garden-–City God Temple

4+ stars Hotels

Breakfast & Lunch

After breakfast, we begin our journey in Tianzifang, a vibrant maze of narrow alleyways filled with art studios, boutique shops, and street food stalls. Built from renovated Shikumen houses, Tianzifang preserves the unique character of old Shanghai while showcasing contemporary creativity.

From there, we stroll along Sinan Road, a peaceful, tree-lined boulevard known for its early 20th-century architecture. This elegant street reflects Shanghai's colonial past and remains a cultural hub in the city today.

Just nearby is Sinan Mansions, a complex of restored historic villas that once housed dignitaries and intellectuals. Now, the area blends heritage with modernity, featuring cafés, galleries, and cultural spaces.

Next, we head to Yuyuan Garden, a classical garden built during the Ming Dynasty. Here you'll find traditional Chinese architecture, graceful pavilions, koi-filled ponds, and rockeries that embody harmony and balance.

Adjacent to the garden is City God Temple, a key religious and cultural landmark where locals come to pray for blessings. The temple area is surrounded by a bustling bazaar where you can sample local snacks, browse trinkets, and soak in the atmosphere of old Shanghai.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return. Are there any specific rituals to follow when visiting City God Temple?
Answered by intotravelchina | July 24,2025 09:24
When entering the temple, it's customary to remove your hat. You can buy incense sticks and light them to make offerings. It's also important to be respectful and quiet inside the temple buildings.

What are the must - try local dishes in Zhujiajiao Water Town?
Answered by intotravelchina | July 24,2025 09:23
Try the "zhujiajiao zaoka" (a type of local steamed bun filled with meat and vegetables), which has a unique flavor. The "qingtuan" (green rice balls filled with sweet bean paste) are also a seasonal delicacy not to be missed.
Asked by Emma Stephen from Germany | July 23,2025 16:51
Can I bring my own food to have a picnic in Yuyuan Garden?
Answered by intotravelchina | July 24,2025 09:23
It's not recommended. Yuyuan Garden is a cultural heritage site, and to maintain its cleanliness and integrity, outside food is generally not allowed. There are tea houses and snack stalls inside the garden where you can purchase food and drinks.
Asked by Quincy Gabriel from Canada | July 23,2025 16:32
