  • Lingering Garden - Shantang Ancient Street - Tiger Hill - Suzhou No.1 Silk Factory

  • 4+ stars Hotel

  • Breakfast

First, you will visit the The Lingering Garden(Liu Yuan), one of the Four Great Gardens of China, which demonstrates a compact layout and a delicate decorative art.

Afterwards, take a stroll to Shantang Ancient Street which is a famous historical and cultural street in China. It was once one of the most developed neighborhoods for commerce and culture in China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

In the afternoon, you will embark on a journey to explore Suzhou's Tiger Hill, which is a famous scenic spot with a long history of more than 2500 years. As Su Shi, a famous poet of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), said, "to visit Suzhou and not see Tiger Hill would lead to a lifetime of regret".

The most prestigious attraction in Tiger Hill is the Yunyansi Pagoda, a seven-story pagoda that has stood for 1,000 years and has a leaning posture comparable to the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. In addition, there is also a Sword Pond, which is rumored to be the place where the King of Wu buried his treasured sword 2,500 years ago.

Afterwards, you will visit the Suzhou No.1 Silk Factory to witness the miraculous transformation of silk from silkworm to silk products.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return. Which places are the best for trying local snacks, and what are some must - try snacks?
Answered by intotravelchina | August 01,2025 10:56
Pingjiang Road is a great place to try some authentic local snacks. There are many street stalls and small shops selling a wide variety of snacks. Some must - try snacks include the "Suzhou - style glutinous rice balls," which are filled with sweet red bean paste or sesame paste. They are soft and chewy on the outside and sweet and delicious on the inside. Another popular snack is the "hairy crab pancake," which is made with fresh hairy crab meat and a crispy pancake. You can also try the "Suzhou - style fried dough sticks," which are crispy and fragrant. Our tour guide can take you to the best snack stalls and recommend the most popular snacks based on your taste preferences.

Which part of the Suzhou 1 - day tour offers the best opportunities for taking stunning photos?
Answered by intotravelchina | August 01,2025 10:57
The Humble Administrator's Garden is definitely one of them. The best time for photography here is in the morning when the sunlight is soft and creates a warm and golden glow on the buildings and the pond. You can capture the reflections of the pavilions in the water, which makes for very picturesque shots.

Humble Administrator's Garden
Can you tell me more about its unique features and why it's so famous? What kind of activities can I do there during this 1 - day tour?
Answered by intotravelchina | August 01,2025 10:57
It's famous for its ingenious design that combines natural landscapes with man - made structures. The garden is centered around a large pond, with pavilions, halls, and corridors built around it. The layout follows the principle of "borrowing scenery," which means that the designers made use of the surrounding natural scenery to enhance the beauty of the garden.

What’s the best souvenir to buy in Suzhou?
Answered by intotravelchina | August 01,2025 10:59
Beyond silk, great souvenirs include: Suzhou embroidery: Tiny needlework (e.g., peonies, birds) at Shantang Street’s "Embroidery Studio"—handmade, not machine-stitched. Biluochun tea: A fragrant green tea grown near Suzhou—buy loose leaves at "Tea House No.1" (they’ll pack it in gift tins). Wooden combs: Carved with floral patterns at Tiger Hill’s "Ancient Craft Shop"—locals have used them for centuries.
