Cangshan Park--Three Pagodas Temple--Erhai Lake Walk--Dali Old Town

4+ stars Hotels

Morning:
Follow intotravelchina and start your day at the stunning Cangshan Park, home to the famed "Cangshan Snow," one of Dali’s legendary scenic highlights. Combining alpine lakes, ancient forests, and glacial relics, Cangshan is perfect for hiking, cableway sightseeing, and cultural exploration. Choose from three routes:

Route A: Take the Ximatan Cableway, the only one reaching the summit (3,900m). Known as the "Heavenly Cable," it passes through Yunnan pine and fir forests, offering panoramic views over Dali Old Town and soaring above alpine rhododendron forests (best viewed May–June). The final stop is Ximatan Lake, where legend says Kublai Khan once washed his horse. Enjoy lush blooms in summer and frost-covered branches in winter.

Route B: The Gantong Cableway leads to a mid-mountain trail ideal for light hiking. This route features serene sea views and mysterious canyon paths, offering access to Cangshan’s hidden beauty with minimal effort and fewer crowds.

Route C: The Zhonghe Cableway is the only one with open chairlifts, offering an immersive 360° ride through mountain breezes and pine forests. It arrives directly at the ancient Zhonghe Temple, where a viewing platform offers breathtaking vistas of Erhai Lake below.

Afternoon:
Visit Erhai Lake, Yunnan’s second-largest freshwater lake, shaped like an ear and stretching 42 km north to south at an altitude of 1,972m. Known as the "Erhai Moon" in Dali’s famous "Wind, Flower, Snow, and Moon" landscapes, it blends Bai ethnic culture, wetland ecology, and scenic charm. It’s a must-see destination that soothes the soul.

Then explore the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, Dali’s most iconic landmark. Built in the 9th century during the Nanzhao Kingdom, the complex features one large and two smaller pagodas. Nestled between Cangshan and Erhai, it was once a royal temple and is said to be the inspiration for the "Tianlong Temple" in Jin Yong’s Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils.

Evening:
Take a leisurely walk through Dali Old Town, which comes alive at night. From cozy indie bars to lively street markets, from starry-sky folk music to Bai ethnic dance gatherings, there’s something for everyone. Climb the ancient city walls for panoramic photos, try your hand at traditional tie-dye to create a one-of-a-kind souvenir, or simply wander the night market and indulge in local flavors.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
