About:US.
240 visa free transit - will I qualify?
Hello!
I will be flying from Malaysia with US passport to Beijing (PEK) then to Xian (XIY) then to Seoul, South Korea.
Can I fly into Beijing, PEK then fly out of Xian, XIY? Does it have to have to be the same port of entry into and out of China?
We are planning to take the high speed train from Beijing to Xian. Is this a better option than flying in early May? Will there be a place to put our carry-on luggage?
Also, we can still use cash in Xian?
Lastly, my traveling companion will be using a Malaysian passport. There will be nothing additional that she needs to do, correct? Just go through immigration and that’s it?
Thank you so much for your help!

According to the latest policy, as a US passport holder, you can enter via Beijing and exit via Xi'an without needing the same port of entry/exit. Taking the high-speed train is a viable option, with luggage storage areas available on board. Cash is still accepted in Xi'an, though mobile payments are recommended. Your Malaysian companion can enjoy 30-day visa-free entry with just her passport—no extra procedures needed.
