Beijing to Wutaishan Three Terrace Mountain by train
Which Railway Station should we choose if we want to visit Wutaishan from Beijing? Is it Xinzhou?
What is good 3 - 5 hotel near the temple ( Xiantong temple ).
How many days should we stay in Wutaishan?
If we arrive from Beijing to Xinzhou, then we have to stay overnight in Xinzhou and the next day to Wutaishan and so is on the way back. Am I right?
What else should we visit in the area? Is Taiyuan worthwhile ( we have been to Pingyao ).
Thank you.

For traveling from Beijing to Wutaishan by train, we recommend taking the K601 train to Wutaishan Railway Station (departs Beijing at 22:23, arrives at 4:30 next day)—no need to transfer via Xinzhou, saving transit time. Near Xiantong Temple, we suggest Rujia Neo Wutaishan Longquan Temple Hotel (4-star, 10-min walk to core temples) and Hanting Wutaishan Central Hotel (3-star, adjacent to Xiantong Temple), both with comfortable stays and scenic area shuttles.
Plan to stay 2-3 days for in-depth exploration of mountain peaks and monasteries. If choosing Xinzhou transfer (e.g., high-speed rail to Xinzhou West), overnight in Xinzhou before a 1.5-hour car ride to Wutaishan (reverse for return). Nearby highlights: Taiyuan Jinci Temple (2.5-hour drive, ancient historic site) and Yanmen Pass (1.5-hour drive, iconic Great Wall section), offering natural scenery and cultural depth beyond Pingyao.
