In the morning, you will drive to Tianchi (Heavenly Lake), a UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled on the northern slope of the Bogda Peak in the eastern Tianshan Mountains. The museum showcases unique artifacts such as the “Five Stars Rise in the East” armband, Han and Tang dynasty textiles, ancient wool and cotton fabrics, manuscripts, bamboo slips, bronze ware with Scythian features, as well as fossils and well-preserved mummies. In the evening, head to the dazzling International Grand Bazaar, lit beautifully at night and full of vibrant energy. First, ascend the Silk Road Sightseeing Tower for panoramic views of Urumqi and the bustling bazaar below. Then explore the bazaar’s food street, where you can sample a wide range of Xinjiang specialties, shop for handicrafts, dried fruits, and other local products, and enjoy traditional performances that showcase the region’s rich folk culture.
