Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park
Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, located in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, is China’s largest marine-themed amusement park. Opened in November 2018, it spans 297,000 square meters across six themed zones: Polar Pass, Marine Wonder, Deep Sea Secret, Ice & Snow Kingdom, Volcano Bay, and Tropical Rainforest. The park combines marine life education with adrenaline-pumping rides, housing over 30,000 marine creatures, including whale sharks, beluga whales, and emperor penguins. Historical Overview
Construction began in 2015 with an investment of ¥3 billion. The park opened in 2018 as Haichang Group’s flagship marine tourism project. In 2019, it set a Guinness World Record for the “largest underwater viewing dome” (360° whale shark aquarium). The park expanded in 2021 with the addition of the Ice & Snow Kingdom zone, featuring indoor ski slopes.
