Feilai Temple

Feilai Temple

Feilai Temple, perched on the slopes of Meili Snow Mountain in Deqin County, Yunnan Province, China, is a renowned Tibetan Buddhist monastery and pilgrimage site. Overlooking the majestic Kawagebo Peak—the highest and most sacred mountain in the range—the temple serves as a vantage point for witnessing the breathtaking "Meili Sunrise Gold," when sunlight bathes the snow-capped peaks in golden hues. Built centuries ago, Feilai Temple holds deep spiritual significance for local Tibetan and Naxi communities, who gather here for prayer, festivals, and to pay homage to the sacred mountain. Its serene setting, combined with panoramic views of the Himalayas, makes it a tranquil retreat for reflection and a must-visit destination for travelers exploring Yunnan’s religious and natural heritage.

Introduction & Historical Significance
Nestled along the Yunnan-Tibet Highway in Deqin County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Feilai Temple is a 400-year-old sacred site and UNESCO-recognized cultural gem. Built in 1614 during the Ming Dynasty, it serves as the premier vantage point for witnessing the grandeur of Meili Snow Mountain, particularly its main peak Kawakarpo (5,896m). As a fusion of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, the temple embodies the harmony of three religions and has long been a spiritual hub for Tibetan pilgrims and travelers seeking blessings.

  • Zisun Hall (Descendants Hall): Dedicated to family lineage and prosperity, housing ancestral tablets and ritual artifacts.
  • Viewing Deck: Strategically positioned to frame Kawakarpo Peak, offering 360° vistas of snow-capped giants, glacial valleys, and the Yangtze River’s first bend.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
