Seven Star Park

Seven Star Park

Seven Star Park (Qixing Gongyuan), located in Guilin, China, is one of the largest and most scenic urban parks in the region, renowned for its unique blend of natural karst landscapes, cultural heritage, and recreational facilities. Named after the seven peaks resembling the Big Dipper constellation, the park features lush forests, serene lakes, and ancient caves, including the famous Seven Star Cave (Qixing Dong) with its stunning stalactites and stalagmites. Visitors can explore historic sites like the Flower Bridge and the Zeng Piyan Memorial Hall, hike through scenic trails, or enjoy leisure activities by the park’s tranquil lakes. As a symbol of Guilin’s natural beauty and cultural richness, Seven Star Park offers a peaceful retreat for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and families alike.

Introduction & Historical Significance
Seven Star Park, situated on the eastern bank of the Li River in Guilin, is the city’s largest comprehensive park and a nationally recognized 4A-level scenic area. Named after the seven peaks resembling the Big Dipper constellation, it has been a revered destination since the Sui and Tang dynasties. The park harmonizes natural karst landscapes—including the million-year-old Seven Star Cave and Camel Hill—with cultural relics such as the Song Dynasty Hua Bridge and Guihai Stele Forest. It serves as a cultural and ecological hub, blending geological wonders with historical narratives without referencing unverified global designations.

Architectural Layout & Design
The park’s design integrates natural and human-made elements:

  • Natural Landscapes: Seven Star Cave features stalagmite-rich chambers like "Jade Pool" and "Moon Palace," while Camel Hill erupts in springtime peach blossoms. Moon Hill offers crescent-shaped vistas, and the Li River shoreline frames panoramic city views.
  • Human-Made Structures: Hua Bridge, a 14th-century stone-wood hybrid, displays green-glazed tile roofs and moon-reflecting arches. The Guihai Stele Forest preserves 500+ inscriptions, including politically significant steles from the Northern Song Dynasty. Buddhist temples, pavilions, and the Guilin Zoo—home to giant pandas—add cultural depth.

Major Attractions

  • Seven Star Cave: A karst wonderland with stone forests, underground rivers, and a constant 20°C climate.
  • Camel Hill: A springtime spectacle with peach blossoms and the site of Bill Clinton’s 1998 environmental speech.
  • Hua Bridge: A Song Dynasty marvel with floral carvings and seasonal "rainbow reflections" in its waters.
  • Guihai Stele Forest: A repository of calligraphy and historical inscriptions spanning dynasties.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

As a solo traveler from Canada, I was nervous about navigating China alone—but this 11-day tour was PERFECT! From hiking the Great Wall at sunrise (Day 3) to gasping at the Terracotta Army (Day 5), every day delivered ‘pinch-me’ moments. The real showstopper? Zhangjiajie’s Avatar Mountains (Day 7)! Our guide made the stone pillars come alive with stories. Massive thanks for handling all logistics—bullet train tickets, entry passes, car! And the 4-star hotels surprised me.

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
