Under China’s 24-hour visa-free transit policy, foreigners with valid international travel documents, confirmed onward tickets to a third country, and a destination visa, staying under 24 hours at the same airport, are eligible. Your UK refugee travel document (1951 Convention) may qualify if recognized by Chinese immigration. Verify document validity with Chinese authorities in advance.
