The River in Poetry - The Prosperous Arteries in Li Du's Writing
The name "Jinjiang" has been imbued with a strong literary atmosphere since the Tang and Song dynasties. Du Fu wrote here, 'The window holds the snow of the western ridge for a thousand autumns, and the gate docks the ships of the Eastern Wu for thousands of miles,' depicting the magnificent scenery of Jinjiang as a transportation hub with thousands of sails gathering. This water area is not only a geographical river, but also a symbol of Chengdu's commercial and cultural prosperity. In history, ships sailing from Hejiangting Port could directly reach the Yangtze River and travel as far as Dongwu, transporting treasures such as Shu brocade and tea to the whole country. This water area nourishes the prosperity of Chengdu, and also deposits Xue Tao's talent and countless poets' poems, making it a truly "river of poetry".

The Road to Rebirth - From Silent River Corridor to Cultural and Tourism Landmark
The modern revival of Jinjiang is a contemporary epic about urban renewal, ecological governance, and cultural awakening.
Governance and Awakening: With the development of modern cities, the shipping function of Jinjiang has gradually faded away and once remained silent. At the beginning of this century, Chengdu launched a large-scale comprehensive water system management to recreate the ecological background of "clear water and green banks".
Creativity Illuminates: In 2019, the "Night Tour of Jinjiang" project was officially unveiled as a heavyweight project for Chengdu to build "Three Cities, Three Capitals" and a world-renowned tourist city. The project focuses on the "Jinjiang Story Scroll" and uses modern light and shadow technology to revitalize historical landmarks such as Hejiang Pavilion and Anshun Corridor Bridge at night, quickly becoming a phenomenal cultural and tourism IP.
Iteration and Expansion: The project continues to innovate and has successively launched characteristic products such as Jinjiang Water Hot Pot Boat, MR Digital Cruise Boat, Jinjiang Tea Boat, etc. The route continues to extend and has now formed a network connecting multiple docks, parks, and neighborhoods, becoming one of the core engines driving Chengdu's nighttime economy, perfectly interpreting the revitalization and utilization of historical and cultural heritage under the concept of "park city".

Must see Wonders: Flowing Poetry and Paintings, and Frozen History Books

Furong Ancient Town Furong Ancient Town

Flowing Poetry and Painting - Symphony of Light, Shadow, Clouds, and Technology
The landscape of Jinjiang at night is a dynamic multimedia art feast, where technology and creativity render the long scroll of history on the surface of the water.
Brilliant light and shadow show: a visual narrative that spans thousands of years. At the departure point of Dongmen Pier, a huge light and shadow curtain wall opens the journey with the animation of "Flower Heavy and Golden Official City". During the voyage, the two sides used technologies such as laser projection and fog curtains to dynamically reproduce the bustling scene of the "December City" in Chengdu during the Northern Song Dynasty, reviving the prosperity of the January Lantern Market and February Flower Market before our eyes. Hejiang Pavilion and Anshun Corridor Bridge are the focal points of light and shadow. The former portrays the romantic story of Sima Xiangru and Zhuo Wenjun, while the latter is outlined by lighting like a brilliant jade belt spanning the Jinjiang River, forming a perfect symmetrical aesthetic with the reflection in the water, and is the absolute core of photography.
Fantasy Mist Forest and Digital Time Travel. In addition to the classic night voyage, the daytime "Jinjiang Wonderland Tour" uses the foggy forest system to create a misty fairyland on the river, suitable for Hanfu photography and peaceful sightseeing. Some special flights also offer MR (mixed reality) glasses rental. After wearing them, the real river scenery will be overlaid with digital illusions such as soaring cranes and ancient markets, achieving an immersive time travel experience that blends reality and virtuality.

Solidified Historical Records - Narration of Docks, Ancient Bridges, and Streets
Every landmark along the coast is a living footnote to understanding Chengdu.
Dongmen Wharf is the starting point of the journey, historically the departure point of the "Ten Thousand Miles of Eastern Wu Ship". Nowadays, it is home to markets and cultural and creative shops, full of fireworks.
Hejiang Pavilion was first built in the Tang Dynasty, taking the meaning of "the two rivers merge into one". It was once a famous place for literati and scholars to entertain and bid farewell, and now it is even hailed as a "landmark of love".
The Anshun Corridor Bridge, with its exquisite antique style, lies horizontally on the river and is one of the city symbols of Chengdu. The bridge is equipped with a historical and cultural exhibition hall.
The Shuijingfang Museum section, when a cruise ship passes by here, the air seems to be filled with the fragrance of hundreds of years of wine, telling the long history of brewing and commercial civilization in Chengdu.

Photography tips:
The best panoramic camera position is on the Anshun Corridor Bridge or on the opposite side of the greenway, which can simultaneously capture classic images of the corridor bridge, Hejiang Pavilion, and cruise ships in the same frame.
The starting section of Dongmen Pier is suitable for capturing the stunning scene of a cruise ship departing and the grand light and shadow curtain wall.
Using a slow door camera (with a tripod), the light trajectory of the cruise ship and the calm reflection of the river can be captured to create a dreamy effect of flowing light.
Drones are allowed to fly in designated areas and capture the divine perspective of Jinjiang meandering through the city like a light strip.

Five Must Do Things to Unlock a Complete Jinjiang Journey
Shoot a vintage urban blockbuster. The time is chosen in the "blues moment" half an hour after sunset, when there is still a faint light in the sky, the lights are on, and the colors are the most dreamlike. The preferred locations are Anshun Corridor Bridge, Hejiang Pavilion, or Dongmen Wharf Market. It is strongly recommended to wear Hanfu or new Chinese style clothing, which complements the ancient style painted boats and historical buildings.
Embark on a night voyage of light and shadow that spans thousands of years. Choosing the right boat type is key: ancient style painted boats are the most suitable for photography, modern boats offer better comfort, and distinctive water hotpot boats or tea boats provide a unique dual enjoyment of taste and vision. During the voyage, follow the changes in the chapter of light and shadow, and experience the temporal and spatial flow from "Jinmen Shengjing" to "Hejiang Night Banquet".
Taste a Sichuan style feast floating on the river. The top experience is undoubtedly the "Jinjiang Hot Pot Boat". In the antique painted boat, facing the rolling red oil hot pot and the flowing city night view outside the window, it is a representative experience of the ultimate Sichuan flavor. Tourists who prefer elegance can choose the "Jinjiang Tea Boat" to enjoy tea, scenery, and small-scale performances.
Play a technology interaction that blends reality and virtuality. On the flight that provides MR equipment, a mixed reality Jinjiang treasure hunt game is launched, presenting historical stories in a fun and interactive way, which is deeply loved by family tourists.
Continuing a city stroll with waterfront connectivity. After disembarking, the journey did not end. Walking from the dock, you can reach the busiest commercial district and historical and cultural district in Chengdu: walking to Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li to experience fashion, strolling to Lan Kwai Fong to experience nightlife, or exploring the historical district of Shuijingfang, completing a complete Chengdu experience from water to land.

Tourist Route Suggestions
One night "Quick View of essence" Tour (classic must experience):
Arrive at the East Gate Pier area at 7 pm, first go for a stroll at the market on the shore, and enjoy dinner or snacks. Between 8pm and 8:30pm, take a night cruise ship on the core section (from Dongmen Pier to Hejiangting round-trip), with a journey of about 50 minutes. After disembarking, take night portraits at Hejiangting and Anshun Langqiao banks, and then walk to the nearby Lan Kwai Fong area to experience Chengdu's nightlife.
IntoTravelChina Tip: This itinerary is tight and may require queuing for weekend and holiday boat rides. It is recommended to book tickets in advance through us to save on-site waiting time.

Travel Guide: Transportation, Accommodation, and Seasons

How to reach: Seamless Connection Guide
The main docks for night tours of Jinjiang are located in the center of Chengdu city, with extremely convenient transportation.
The most convenient way to depart from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is to take the subway, take Line 10 and transfer to Line 3 to get off at the "Chunxi Road" station, and walk for about 10-15 minutes to reach Dongmen Ferry Terminal. Starting from Chengdu East Station (high-speed railway station), taking Metro Line 2 can directly reach the "Chunxi Road" station. You can navigate to "Night Tour Jinjiang Dongmen Pier" or "Hejiang Pavilion" within the city area. There are multiple parking lots nearby, but parking spaces are tight at night. It is recommended to take the subway or bus for travel.
Important return reminder: Night travel flights usually end around 10 pm. When the venue is closed, there is a large flow of people and vehicles around the dock. It is recommended to book a vehicle in advance through a mobile app or walk to a slightly farther main road before taking a taxi.

 Best Travel Time
Jinjiang night tours are suitable for all seasons, but the best experience is concentrated on pleasant spring, autumn, and summer nights.
The golden season of spring and autumn (March May, September November) has the most comfortable climate, cool nights, and rich plant colors on both sides, making it the preferred season for travel. Summer Vitality Season (June August): Chengdu's summer nights are lively, and the experience of water hotpot boats is strong, but it should be noted that there may be occasional showers. During the warm winter season (December to February), there are relatively few tourists, and the river breeze is colder, so it is necessary to add clothes. However, during the Spring Festival, the Jinjiang Night Tour will be decorated with special New Year lighting, which is full of festive atmosphere.

Accommodation Options
Adjacent to the dock area (preferred): The Chunxi Road/Taikoo Li business district hotel is the absolute center of Chengdu, with a wide range of choices from high-end hotels to boutique designed homestays. It is within walking distance to Dongmen Pier, with top-notch dining, shopping, and entertainment facilities suitable for almost all tourists.
Linjiang Experience Area: The Jiuyan Bridge/Lan Kwai Fong Area Hotel is located along the night tour route, with some rooms overlooking the night view of Jinjiang. This area is known for its rich nightlife and is suitable for young tourists and friends to travel together.
Featured cultural area: Boutique hotels near Kuanzhai Alley/Wenshu Monastery can better experience the tranquility and cultural atmosphere of "old Chengdu". The hotels are mostly transformed from traditional courtyards with unique styles, and require taking the subway or taxi to the dock, suitable for tourists who have a strong interest in Chengdu's history and culture.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Our 2-day Zhangjiajie tour was beyond spectacular! As someone who’s visited Beijing and Shanghai for work, this trip revealed China’s wild, magical heart. Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal! The night views of stilt houses glowing over the river were straight from a fairy tale. For fellow Avatar lovers and adventure seekers: Don’t miss this bucket-list experience! 10/10 would return.
